And the Renos Continue...

I think I forgot to tell you that over the XMAS break we decided that we were going to sell our house no matter what in Feb/Mar and that meant the renos would continue. I can't wait to have this house finished - all new floors were laid on the second floor over the weekend and my husband continues to finish the newly renovated laundry room. From there we have the second bathroom to finish and a few smaller details before we are done! I can't wait and I especially can't wait to show the pictures!! Even better, we may have found a house to buy - we decided not to build just yet - and we go to take a peek this weekend! I will definitely have to keep you posted on the outcome. Until then, I'll be working away and here's a sneak peak at what we've done in one of our rooms since we bought the house. :o)

The front entrance into the foyer...
(And our dog Dallas)
The door to the garage.
The hideous closet doors!!!

And beautiful blue...

Even the trim matches ;0)

New doors, floors and paint! (Minus the trim)

Trim is starting to be put up...

And the only photos I have at the moment of it finished!
(My wedding)

And the finished room!
I will get you more soon... and better pics of the foyer as well.

Happy Monday!

It's "Favorites Friday"!

As promised in my Happy New Year's Post... here are my five favorite projects from 2010 - 2011. I have done a lot and helped a lot of businesses start their marketing ventures. I love the design business and can't wait for the projects to start this year - but more importantly, as noted, I really want to get the business up and running online and my product line launched!

For now, here are my five favorite projects from 2010 - 2011 at martha.anne:

A Quick Bonjour...

I can't lie, I had the perfect post that I wanted to put together for tonight, but we had a sudden burst to go for a drive to look at houses. Of course, we found something but now we have to see if it's still for sale!! (Fingers Crossed) And of course that means we won't be building, but I think we officially decided tonight that we are going to wait a few more years before digging into that project. We are just a few years ahead of our time :o) (As most people always say to us - Err... Yes I just growled.) So, because I didn't get my post together in time - which was going to have pictures of my own, I thought I'd pop on to say Bonjour! and let you know that I will be completely consumed in my January Issues of House & Home and Style At Home as they arrived in the mail! I can't wait to dig in!! Tomorrow, I will post my Favorites Friday - I promise...

Bonne Nuit! (I hope that's right)

Mmm... Tomato Soup.

With the radio reporting a low -24ºC this morning, I made sure to grab a bowl of my homemade tomato soup to warm up at lunch today. A few weeks ago I scribbled down a couple of recipes, one being a tomato soup. I took my list to the grocery store and bought all of the items - then with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I just managed to make it on Monday. But, I had lost the recipe. So somewhat following a separate recipe, I managed to throw together my purchased ingredients and ended up with a delicious concoction I will call Tomato Soup.

Pinterest - Tomato Soup

Tomato Soup

Ingredients:

2 heaping tbsp of butter (I used becel margarine)
3 cloves of garlic thinly sliced
1 medium onion
1 28 oz can of Aylmer crushed tomatoes
1 14 oz can of Hunt's sweet onion chunky tomatoes
2 cups of chicken broth
1 1/2 cups of half & half cream
salt & pepper to taste (I used garlic salt)

Take a large pot, melt butter and sauté onion and garlic. When everything is soft, add both cans of tomato and warm - don't boil. Next blend the mixture (I don't have a blender so I used a hand mixer, it worked great because it left a few chunks of tomatoes and garlic). Next, add the chicken broth and boil. Add the half & half cream, salt & pepper and simmer on low for 30 minutes.

There you have it, the perfect solution to a cold winter's day. Now I'm not a chef by any means, but even my husband loved it and let me note, he hates Tomato soup! Mmm…. Enjoy!

Happy New Year!

Slightly belated but definitely needed - Happy New Year!!! I owe you a huge thank you for supporting Martha.Anne in 2011 and giving me the hope and motivation to keep moving forward with my home business. I really want to wish you the best for 2012 - I hope it's full of health and prosperity. I really had hopes of sharing my five favorite projects from 2011 - but I'll save that for a Friday post! :) In the meantime, here's a few pictures I took in Ottawa last week - we live just an hour south of the Nation's Capital and it's always a beautiful place to visit no matter what time of year.

Fairmont Chateau Laurier

Parliament Hill - Canada

Downtown Ottawa, Ontario

I'm hoping to get a few more of my personal pics up on here more often. As well, here's a list of a few of my "New Year's Resolutions" or hopes for 2012:

1. Blog more.
2. Build/Open my online business.
3. Introduce a new product line.
4. Finish/Sell our house - and build/buy! :)
5. Be Healthy!!

I think that's plenty… Now let's see how I do.
Let me know what your hopes are for 2012…

Happy New Year!
